After the successfulness of my guest post 15 Personal Branding Tasks You Can Do Everyday and my post 31 Tasks a Job Seekers Can Do Every Month.
I’ve decided to continue this type of posts so I used Twitter to tweet some of my twitter friends and asked them: Give me one tip/advice a Gen Y needs to know/aware of today?
Here are the 20 things a Generation Y needs to know today:
1 – Social means engaging, sharing, and relating. Enjoying, rather than selling, is key. ~ @mkrigsman
2 – One way to motivate entrepreneurship among young people .. Mentoring 2.0 = Young with experience with Web (Gen Y) + Entrepreneur – Business man . Win-win relationship ~ @KimAuclair
3 – The cloud computing, in all it’s incarnations. ~ @mrdatahs
4 – Don’t trust any company that thinks it owns your data. ~ @dsearls
5 – Gen Y tends to focus on their position in the formal organization chart. The informal one may matter more. ~ @chuckhollis
6 – Online presence is as important as your offline character. Your online identity will become your real identity. ~ @maltaee
7 – Please stop it with the IMing, Texting, Chatting, and use of SNS at work. ~ @jason_pontin
8 – Resist the temptation to buy 1.0, no matter show shiny/sparkly it is. 2.0 is almost always worth the wait. ~ @dsilverman
9 – Learn how to turn the stuff off and go low tech for personal sanity. http://bit.ly/bwN9ku ~ @jperlow
10 – Gen Y should be aware of fair use/copyright freedoms and limitations. ~ @tonyvincent
11 – Persistence is all. ~ @brendachrist
12 – Learn how to use technology to communicate better – writing, speaking, and visual plus online gesturing as data. ~ @furrier
13 – Don’t do dumb stuff that will cost you a job on your social graph. ~ @ldignan
14 – Technology should simplify your life not make it more complex. Make sure new tech works for you not you for it. ~ @Enderle
15 – The best communication tool is a pair of ears. ~ @edyson
16 - Location aware apps on smartphones are the future. laptops etc. are the past. ~ @clf99
17 – Always use the most advanced technology (if you can afford it). Doing so will keep you and your career oriented to the future. ~ @gcolony
18 – Careful what you post on your social networks, nothing goes unseen… > you are what you post. ~ @lammiia
19 – Having technical expertise can take you only so far. Using your skills to mentor others and build community is the real power of social technologies. ~ @WalterAkana
20 – GenYs are in a prime position to influence the technical shift required in most organizations to better collaborate. To achieve this transition however they must be able to engage within the current culture.
Millennials can provide the insight of what new tools can be used. The value proposition of the shift, however, must come from a mutual understanding of the business opportunity between both parties.
Each generation has gone through this paradigm shift when a fundamental shift has occurred in corporate demographics. However, there never has been a time where the gap is more achievable. By finding the common ground between GenXs and GenYs, we can use this generational mashup to redesign how businesses can be managed and led. ~ @rlavigne42

Needed to post you one tiny remark to be able to give thanks over again relating to the great pointers you have documented on this website. It was really shockingly generous with people like you giving openly what a lot of people could have supplied for an e book in making some profit on their own, particularly given that you could have done it in the event you decided. Those solutions also worked like a easy way to understand that someone else have the same zeal just like mine to grasp whole lot more pertaining to this matter. I am certain there are thousands of more enjoyable occasions ahead for individuals that see your blog post. Edyth Brustkern(Quote)

Great blog! Is your theme custom made or did you download it from somewhere? A theme like yours with a few simple adjustements would really make my blog stand out. Please let me know where you got your design. Thanks a lot usb turntable reviews(Quote)

Woah! I’m really loving the template/theme of this site. It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s tough to get that “perfect balance” between usability and appearance. I must say that you’ve done a superb job with this. Also, the blog loads very fast for me on Opera. Superb Blog! Theo Burrola(Quote)
