5 Innovative Ideas for Writing a Brand Resume

I know, you are struggling everyday to find a job and the good news, you have a resume – Oh! You have a boring traditional resume!

I feel sad when I gave my critique to resumes. 95% of the resumes that I came across were all using the same format that are not showing anything about your personal brand, nothing about your unique skills, nothing about your great achievements and nothing about any value you are adding everyday to the world.

Is that You?

What I’m giving below are just few innovative ideas to create a brand resume that catch reader’s eyes and make a first impression. You need the first impression to pass half of the way to your dream job.

1 – Go Visual

Text, text and text resumes! What about converting heavy text into graphic charts? What do you think of showing your numbers ($ saved; # reports; > revenue, etc.) in a plot chart? What about showing your skills strength as shown below?

Skills

Microsoft Office Excel or any other software can create a visual graph in few minutes.

2 – Think Like an Employer

What is the job description requirements? Think of marketing yourself exactly as the employer want. Create two columns table, one column for employer requirements and beside it what you have achieved in that area. Also, you can attach hand written note to the employer, chose yellow paper and write your personal brand statement on it matching employer’s needs.

3 – Go Green

Either your resume will go to the trash or to the trash! But you could be the candidate that your resume stay at the recruiter ’stable. What does that need?

Think of using the space in your resume for something the recruiter can keep. What about a business card?

Also, you can use double side resume showing a logo or award you have got. Write a note or a quote, just use your marketing document as much as you can so may be you can save the world by keeping part of the paper in use not trash.

4 – Make it a Networking Event

Share your Twitter handle, your blog link, your office link (LinkedIn) and even your facebook address if it is a professional account.

The worst thing, you will not notice for the job but the recruiter\employer could follow or friend you. One day and one tweet could be the change that your life is waiting for.

5 – Go Wow!

Send and share your resume with your friends, relatives and colleagues, then count three Wow! If you get them, go start applying for jobs else ask them, what it needs to be a Wow resume?

Finally, create an image file from your brand resume and post it as profile picture on Facebook, Linkedin or even a tab on your blog.

Wow Resume!

Remember, becoming remarkable is all what you need to get the job.

Fantastic ideas, Mohammed! I am impressed! I’ve used color and creativity since 2003 on resumes but your graph chart is eye-popping! I love it!  (Quote)
