Branding is any activities you undertake or avoid that result in a stronger brand.

Personal Brand is just a specific case of a brand, which is how personal branding relates to branding as well. With that in mind, here are my definitions:

Personal branding has been around for millions of years, our ancestor called it reputation; we are able now to communicate our reputation through the web and specifically social media, so it is easier to influence people opinion about us. However, the bottom line is still the same, in order to build a good reputation ( personal branding) you have to have a story, a skill, a good character, a unique value, so my advice to many that are trying to build a personal brand, focus on your character, have a story, and tell it to other people, and go from there.

Hey Mohammed – I meet a lot of new job seekers who view personal branding as an unnecessary complication. Simply “more to to do” vs. real value. Will share this breakdown via your post with folks who are looking for a simple articulation of the concept. Nice approach . . .

personality branding should not be based on falsehoo, but rather the truth in every situation
