Does Your Avatar Align With Your Personal Brand?

by Mohammed on December 28, 2009

If you are lucky like me to see Avatar then you will enjoy this post which I inspired from the movie.

Each one of us has his/her own avatar whether on Twitter, Facebook, Blog comments or any online presence on the web.  People can see your avatar but they could not see you personally so aligning your avatar with your personal brand is the key to success in nowadays. In the film Jake Sully, a paraplegic former marine, arrives on Pandora to replace his murdered twin brother, but as an Avatar operator. He was in battle with himself to keep his believe and principles the same in the two lives. Here are some of the attributes that you can wear to make your avatar align with your character.

1 -  Authenticity

When Authenticity Wins in Personal Branding’s Competition, it doesn’t come by coincidence. When Jake Sully recorded his daily life, he was authentic about his believes and what will happen, he was assure that Pandora people will never move to another location. The same apply to us on the web, what we share and post online should reflect our true (offline) character because behaving as another person won’t give us a credibility so be YOU online and offline.

2 – Trustworthy

When you are authentic, people will trust you even if you are stranger. When you tell the truth or admit your mistakes, people around you will like your honesty because that comes by a courage person. The same apply when you market your products, if you truly market your services or product  what represent then the customer will buy from you whatever the price because they trust you. If you build a trust then people will come to you even if you increase the price or moved to another location because people trust your brand.

3 – Persistence

As I said: “Persistence is the true measure of your belief in yourself.” If you are persistent then you are confident of your actions and can precepts success in each step. Great performance never comes if you are waiting for someone else to act your actions. You have to take action if you want to move on else you will stand up in the corner and keep seeing people running a head of you. Its matter of trying and believing in your dreams because that’s the most powerful tool you have and its operate only by your permission. The last hope could be the chosen chance.

I hope you enjoy the attributes. If you like to hear more then, its a good reason for me to see the film again ;)

I vote that you go see the film again. Great Takeaways, Mohammed, and a reminder of what personal branding really means. Being who you are consistently… not putting on one facade for business and another for your personal life. Authenticity and trustworthiness are high on my list. Persistence is the lesson I am still working on.

I will go to see Avatar again if someone invite me :P

As I tweeted recently: The ABCDE of Personal Branding in 2010 are: Authenticity Believability Consistency Determination Engageability

So you have to build our brand base on these attributes and keep on maintaining them regardless of the Avatar you wear because a brand is useless unless you manage it.

Thanks!

Like always Mohammed Amazing article !!
I believe like other that I can make my avatar align with my own character. all the attributes which were chosen are perfect and for me :

In Authenticity :
i believe that everyone has inner voice he have to hear it clearly. So he can get to authenticity, and if he keep going down to the bone, to the honesty, He’ll reach to the inevitability in everything he do and as you said be YOU online and offline.

In Trustworthy :
As George Ross said ” to be successful, you have to be able to relate to people; they have to be satisfied with your personality to be able to do business with you and to build a relationship with trust” , so they can find you in every time they need you
, And you will not fail them because you are worthy of this trust

In Persistence :
Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up, you have to try , believe, and stay in your persistence

Thank you we still waiting more from you :) !
